An interesting article about how having an ever changing Housing Minister hampers progress for Community Led Housing nationally.
“If you’ve got constantly changing ministers and changing policy priorities you can’t get something done. Housing projects take five or six years to go from inception to completion, whether you’re a community land trust or housing association or developer, from acquiring land to taking the risk of getting loans and so on. To do that in a context in which funding constantly stops and starts is very difficult,” Tom Chance, chief executive of the Community Land Trust Network, said.
Here in GM the absence of the Community Housing Fund has put the brakes on quite a few of our pipeline projects….just one issue that GMCLH is trying to resolve on behalf of the 24 active projects across Greater Manchester.
