Sensible Housing Co-operative is a small fully mutual organisation. Sensible is owned in full by its residents… they control and manage the housing services.
Based in Bolton, this small organisation has been providing co-operative housing for over 20 years. Kevin McCaffery has been a member of the Sensible housing co-operative for the past seven years and acted as their Secretary for the past two.
He said “I first chose to live in co-operative housing because it offered security, affordability, accountability and community. I’ve stayed in co-op housing because it’s been educational and ultimately very rewarding. I genuinely feel co-operative housing offers a realistic and viable solution to our current housing shortage.”
